It gives
me immense pleasure to share that the department of Electronics,
Instrumentation and Control Engineering of University of Petroleum and Energy
Studies, organized a national seminar on “Growth Driven New Capabilities in
Electronic Design and Innovation in Industries and its Positive Impact on Job
Opportunities” on 15th Nov 2016 at
The Aim
of the Seminar was to gather Industrialist and academicians from all over India
and provide platform for students to interact with them and get aware about job
opportunities and preparation for it, in the field of Electronics and
Instrumentation.
I would like to thank our
honorable chancellor Dr.S.J.Chopra, CEO & President Mr.Utpal Ghosh, Vice
chancellor Dr. Shrihari Honwad, Mr. Sanjeev Zutshi- Senior
Director-Operation& Institutional affairs, Mr. Arun Dhand,
Director-government operations, Vice President-Academic Affairs Dr. S.R.Das,
Dean CoES Dr. Kamal Bansal, Brig. S.S Dhillion, Director- Admin management,
Brig. Anil Sharma , Director- DSA, Associate deans Dr. Suresh Kumar, Dr. Piyush
Kuchhal, Dr. Manish Parteek, Dr. S.K. Banarjee, Prof. S.C Gupta, and HoD(EIC
dept) Dr. Sushabhan Choudhury for providing us this platform to gather the
academicians and industrialist, from all over the country.
Total four experts from industries and two experts from academics
were invited for their expert lectures on the topic.
The event was started with the presence of Dr. kamal Bansal-
Dean(CoES), Dr. Suresh Kumar- Assoc. Dean(CoES), Dr. Piyush Kuchhal- Assoc.
Dean(CoES), Experts, Faculty members and students, followed by lighting
of lamp, UPES Geet, welcome speech by Dr. Suresh Kumar. Dr. Sushabhan Choudhary
addressed the gathering and motivated students towards innovation.
Guest of honor- Mr. P. Joshi
from L&T encourages team building competency and skill enhancement in
students.
Chief
Guest- Mr. Pankaj Mishra, President, Uttrakhand Industrial Association,
emphasized on creativity, Encourage entrepreneurship and suggested students to
do complete and honest SWORT analysis of themselves and the work on it to
improvise themselves.
The event included expert talks by all experts and then panel
discussion was held which was chaired by Mr. P.Joshi Chief business development
officer-L &T and Co-Chaired by Mr. S. Vijay Anand, Director-Aricent
technologies.
Project Exhibition was inaugurated by Chief guest and the
projects developed by students were appreciated by all the experts.
Expert 1- Mr. P. Joshi, Chief Business development officer- L&T,
New Delhi.
Title- “Emerging prospects in
Electronics Instrumentation and Control – The way forward for Youngsters”
He introduced students with
latest ongoing and upcoming projects L&T is doing like Nuclear Submarine,
Smart cities, IOT, Megacities, Thermal Power plant, Construction and Assembly
of Nuclear Power Plant, over bridges, Desalination of water, Satellite
Launching, Nuclear Submarine, etc. He provided mantras of success which include
Domain Knowledge and its application, Observational Skills, Team Player, Good
Communicator and Listener, able to ideate –out of box thinkers, willing to take
risks and accountability for failure, better logical ability and better
Emotional balance. End his speech by suggesting students to take part in group
activity, documenting you achievements, increase awareness and take membership
of IEEE.
Expert 2- Prof. D.V. Gadre, Associate Professor & Director-
Texas instruments analog design lab, NSIT, Delhi
Title- “Fifty Shades of
Engineers, Blue Collar experience with White collar Engineers”
He began with the history of
world manufacturing and then he gave the clear picture of different job
opportunities method developed outside India. He encourages students to get
hands on experience of work so that they can have masters in that and they will
become company ready product. He get aware the students regarding “DIY”- “Do it
yourself” Concept in America, “LAB- Lab aboard a Box”.
Expert 3- Mr. S. Vijay Anand, Director- Aricent Technologies,
Chennai
Title- “Industry Transformation
for the connected city/connected world”
He
discussed the Internet Evolution which connects the different device with each
other like machine to machine interaction, Internet of Things, Internet of
Vehicles, Internet of Energy, etc. He discussed different key trends on
connected car, Connected Bike Ecosystem, connected flight ecosystem, etc. which
introduce the huge job opportunities of electronics engineers in Automobile
Industries.
Expert 4- Dr. R.K.Singh, Director- BTKIT, KEC dwarahat, Almora,
Uttrakhand
Title-“Optical Fiber
Communication System”
He gave a glance of optical
fiber communication, optical amplifiers, etc. and Characteristics of optical
amplifiers, how the reshaping of signal, Opto-electronic Conversion and Need of
Optical fiber communication system is discussed in detail.
Expert 5- Mr. Abhishek Agarwal, Manager (Telecom), Power grid Corp.
of India Ltd.
Title-“Growth Driven New Capabilities in
Electronic Design and Innovation in Industries and its Positive Impact on Job
Opportunities”
He introduced students to new
job opportunities Government Sector like Broadband Highway, Universal Access of
Phones, Public interest Access Program, Electronic Manufacturing
program-“Target Net Zero Import”, etc. and make students aware regarding job of
Electronics Engineers in “Power Grid” because of new technology of Mobile
communication based on Power grid Network.
